Quipshot

Privacy policy

Effective November 2, 2026

Quipshot turns a photo into a meme: you pick or shoot a picture, get caption ideas, set the top and bottom text, and save the result to your board. This policy describes exactly where that photo and your words go.

dryThe short version

Stays on your phone

  • Photos you import or take
  • Text the app reads from a photo
  • Caption drafts, saved memes, layouts
  • Your settings and activity history

Leaves after “Allow”

  • The photo you are captioning
  • Up to three lines of text read from it
  • Messages you send to Meme Coach
  • Sent to DeepSeek only

Never

  • Accounts or sign-in
  • Ads, tracking, analytics SDKs
  • Selling or renting data
  • Location or contacts

wholesomeNo account, no Quipshot server

Quipshot has no sign-up and no profile. We do not operate a server that receives or stores your photos, captions, or messages. Everything listed below is kept in the app's private storage on your device.

dryWhat Quipshot keeps on your device

Meme Coach conversations are held only in memory while the app is open; they are not written to storage.

savageWhat is sent to DeepSeek, and when

Caption ideas and Meme Coach replies are written by DeepSeek, an AI service operated by Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence Co., Ltd. Before the first request, Quipshot asks “Share photos for captions?”. Nothing is sent unless you tap Allow. If you tap Not now, you can still write captions by hand.

You tapWhat goes to DeepSeekWhat comes back
Import a photo (captions run automatically)The photo itself as a JPEG image, the short text summary read from it, caption instructions, and random record IDs of your earlier saved results. No name, account, device ID, or location is attached.Four caption ideas with a tone label
Send in Meme CoachThe message you typed or dictated, plus the random record IDs of earlier results. No photo is attached. The coach's reply
A photo can show more than you mean to share: faces, other people, screens, addresses, documents. Only caption photos you are comfortable sending to a cloud AI service.

DeepSeek handles these requests under its own privacy policy and processes them on servers in the People's Republic of China. We do not use these requests for advertising and do not receive copies of them on any server of our own.

The editor also shows a Stylize background option for a cloud image service. In this version that service is not connected: tapping it shows “not configured” and no data is sent. If we ever connect it, we will update this policy before it sends anything.

chaoticTurning cloud captions off

Open Settings → AI data sharing and switch off Share photos for captions. Quipshot stops both cloud captions and Meme Coach immediately and cancels any request still in progress. Importing, editing, saving, and sharing memes keep working on the device.

dryCamera, microphone, voice, and Photos

You can change any of these permissions in iOS Settings → Quipshot.

wholesomeKeeping and deleting

Data stays on your device until you delete it. Discard removes a caption draft. Quipshot does not yet offer a delete button for individual saved memes; deleting the app removes every photo copy, meme, draft, and setting Quipshot stored. Memes you saved to Photos or shared elsewhere stay where you put them. Because we hold no copy, we cannot restore anything after the app is deleted.

dryChildren

Quipshot is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

dryChanges and contact

If Quipshot starts handling data differently, we will update this page and its effective date. Questions or requests about privacy: toplines@grinwell.studio.
